A CHARTER ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2 OF CHARTER ORDINANCE NO.5 OF THE CITY OF EUDORA, KANSAS, RELATING TO THE APPOINTMENT OF CITY OFFICERS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF EUDORA, KANSAS:
SECTION 1. Section 2 of Charter Ordinance No.5 of the City of Eudora, Kansas, is hereby amended to read as follows, to-wit:
SECTION 2. The mayor, with the consent of the council, may appoint, at the first regular meeting of the governing body in July of 2003, and thereafter at the first regular meeting of the governing body in June of 2004 and subsequent years, the following city officers: City clerk, city treasurer, judge of the municipal court, city attorney, city superintendent, chief of police, fire chief, recreation director, and such other officers and employees as may be deemed necessary. Such officers shall hold an initial term of office of not to exceed one year and until their successors have been appointed and qualified. Any officers who are reappointed shall hold their offices for a term of one year and until their successors are appointed and qualified. Any officer may be removed by a majority vote of the council and may be suspended at any time by the mayor.
SECTION 2. Section 2 of Charter Ordinance No.5 of the City of Eudora, Kansas is hereby repealed and of no further force and effect, it being the intent of this Charter Ordinance that its provisions be substituted in place thereof.
